Bahamian Small Business Training to Give Blueprint for Business Fundraising

According to a World Bank report, access to finance is one of the biggest challenges facing businesses in the Bahamas and the Caribbean. A group of veteran Bahamian entrepreneurs have combined resources to host a free training to early stage and mid stage companies seeking to secure financing to expand their products and services. The training is being cosponsored by the University of the Bahamas Business Hospitality and Tourism school and the Bahamas MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprise) Entrepreneurial Society.

The Bahamas MSME (Micro Small and Medium Enterprise) Entrepreneurial Society was recently founded by a group of successful Bahamian Entrepreneurs with the purpose of helping Bahamian entrepreneurs navigate the Bahamian business landscape. Founders are: Joseph Curry; International Trade and Investment Network, D’Arcy Rahming International MSME Management Consultant, Keshlah Smith-Clarke Food and Beverage management expert, Government Compliance expert Quinton Curry and document management expert Peter Bridgewater.

“What an entrepreneur will walk away from this training with is clear idea on the type of funding available both nationally and internationally and a step by step blueprint on how to access that funding,” said cofounder D’Arcy Rahming. “But this particular training is targeting businesses at a certain stage of development.

To qualify for the training firms must meet the following criteria: The business needs to raise $50 thousand dollars to $3 million dollars; the company would benefit from fresh ideas and market exposure; the firm has a very clear use of the money for expansion; the company has existing customers; and the business does not overly rely on the skills of the founder.

The training is free to qualifying firms and will take place on Friday April 26 from 9am to 4pm in the auditorium of the Franklyn Wilson building at the University of the Bahamas.
