A $6m tour operation founded by a Bahamian entrepreneur is expected create 70 jobs within its first year and expose the island of Eleuthera to thousands of tourists beginning in 2019.
Tourism Adventures plans to launch a fast ferry that will take 500 guests per day from Nassau to Eleuthera in one hour.
The company’s chief operating officer Tyrone Sawyer II said: “Tourism Adventures will provide an authentic out island experience to the island of Eleuthera. Tourists, especially cruise passengers, will have the opportunity to take a fast ferry able to travel at 48 knots per hour and still make it back to Nassau in one day.”Tourism Adventures plans to cater to children through partnering with Jemima’s Playhouse, an education and entertainment company that was developed by Mr Sawyer and his wife, Jemima.
Jemima’s Playhouse services pre-schools and elementary schools in Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Georgia, using characters such as BahamaMan, Señor Burro, Madame Belle and Waste-a-tron to teach students ethics and social responsibility.
“The children will be able to shoot marbles, spin the top, hop scotch, get fresh bread out the oven and dance with BahamaMan,” Mr Sawyer said of Tourism Adventures.
