Let’s Get Social to refresh, rethink and reimagine social media for success

Social media best practices to take the spotlight for entrepreneurs and small business owners at this month’s Let’s Get Social workshop.

Let’s Get Social: Manage your business’ social media will provide invaluable knowledge and resources for participants. Valdez K. Russell, principal of VKR Insights and event coordinator says “Get Social” will empower and engage Bahamian entrepreneurs and businesses for social media success. Participants will enjoy an interactive experience to refresh, rethink and re-imagine their social media strategy.”

Bahamian and international thought leaders will inspire participants to achieve greater reach and engagement through effective social media management strategies. Shawn Forbes, one of the presenters, is an author and attorney who will facilitate a presentation on authenticity. Forbes highlights, “As entrepreneurs manoeuvre the social media maze, authenticity matters. It is important to be authentic and thoughtfully reflect on your social media goals to connect with people and tell your story.”

Other thought leaders include Yolanda Darville, a storyteller; Lincoln Deal II, an entrepreneur; and Megan Minus, an event manager and production executive. Russell recognizes that the innovative event is a collaborative effort that involves key partners. He notes, “Our sponsors include Aliv, The Bahamas Financial Services Board, the Grand Bahama Port Authority Limited and the Movi Group. These businesses contribute to the economic sustainability of The Bahamas. This collaboration empowers more Bahamian businesses to diversify, innovate and grow through social media.”

The international workshop sponsor is FleishmanHillard Highroad (FHR). Russell says “FHR is an agency with a large global footprint as well as extensive expertise locally within The Bahamas. The advantage for us is that they will provide insights that are culturally relevant and helpful for success, but also share international best practices we can all learn from.”

Get Social will be held on Tuesday, January 16 at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort beginning at 8:30am. Registration and event details are available at getsocial242.com.

Russell adds: “Social media management skills are essential for the economic sustainability of a prosperous Bahamas and this event seeks to empower and engage Bahamians to grow. Let’s get social and refresh, rethink and re-imagine social media for business success.”
