Announcing the forum was Joan Albury, President, TCL Group and chief organizer of ABO, who created the event and the six others in the multi-island Business Outlook series. The seven annual seminars bring together businesspeople, members of government, representatives of key sectors of the economy and other interested persons to forecast the economic picture nationally and locally based on available facts, the global financial picture and expert opinion.
“We are most grateful to Prime Minister Christie for agreeing to give the keynote and to the other speakers who will present on their areas of expertise. We are thankful also for the continuing assistance of the Ministry of Tourism and our various faithful sponsors,” Mrs Albury said.
She added: “Never before has it been more necessary for Bahamians to have accurate information and the benefit of the projections of sector experts as to the outlook for national economic growth and development, as well as the worldwide financial climate, which cannot never be taken lightly. The country’s very slow progress out of the global financial meltdown of 2008 and in lowering unemployment has been a matter of concern for many Bahamians, particularly business leaders who help to drive the economy. The Outlook Series was developed and dedicated to creating a collegial atmosphere in which this kind of exchange can take place for the benefit of those who attend and others who receive the input through the media.” Sponsors for this year’s event include Atlantic Medical, BAF Financial, Department of Inland Revenue, FOCOL Holdings Ltd, Ministry Of Tourism, Scotiabank and Bahamasair.
