Brand Expands to 3rd Outlet Just Four Months After Cable Beach Opening
Expansion plans continue for Milo Butler’s liquor division as the company opens a third Flying Dutchman location in southwestern New Providence. To follow up on a soft opening last month, Flying Dutchman Carmichael will hold official grand opening events this week.
The 1200 sq. ft. store, located in Milo Butler’s Shops At Carmichael Plaza, duplicates the décor and ambiance of the Cable Beach location which opened in late July. Oversized oak barrels holding rums and spirits, fall in line with the brand’s rustic, nautical design elements at the newer outlets. The Carmichael Road location will add six full-time employees to the Flying Dutchman team.
Milo Butler attributes strong sales at the Cable Beach outlet to the team’s ability to engage customers and offer excellent service. Store events like the monthly wine and food pairing and other activities are also growing in popularity. The company hopes to continue additional in-store events at the Carmichael property.
“We are seeing a shift in our client base and in what customers are demanding as far as experience and service. Each location caters to a distinct clientele and our team on the ground is determined to see to it that Flying Dutchman customers leave satisfied,” said Franklyn Butler, Managing Director at Milo Butler.
“With the expansions, we are able to introduce the Flying Dutchman brand to new markets. Our goal is to create an experience when customers walk in to any of our three locations.”
And as the company settles into new neighborhoods, further expansion of the liquor division is expected over the next several years.
“We are in the midst of a full re-branding exercise within the group of companies and growing the liquor division continues to be a part of that overall growth strategy. We continue to invest in upgrading our facilities across the board with the ultimate goal of providing a better experience for our wholesale and retail customers,” said Butler, a third-generation leader at the helm of the company.
Over the next 18- 24 months upgrades will take place at Milo Butler Distributors, Butler’s Bargain Mart and the original Flying Dutchman liquor store located on Baillou Hill Road.
The Flying Dutchman is named after a fabled sea captain. Legend has it he frequented The Bahamas and became the world’s foremost trader of specialty rums during the 18th century. This month, the company will launch http://www.flyingdutchman.com to capitalize on delivery services within the market, offering customers the option of site-to-shop pickups or door-to-door delivery.
Flying Dutchman Carmichael will be officially opened on Friday November 20th with a special ribbon cutting in the morning and a happy hour/mixology session on Friday evening.
